Dear President Bush:
As an American Jew, I call on you to make the achievement of Israeli-Palestinian peace a national priority for the remainder of your Administration. Six years of diplomatic neglect have brought neither security nor peace to Israel or her neighbors. It is time to talk.
Only vigorous U.S. engagement in Arab-Israeli peacemaking will address Israel's long-term security needs, fulfill the Palestinians' legitimate aspirations for an independent state, increase stability in the Middle East, and greatly benefit U.S. interests in the region.
Therefore, I call on your Administration to urgently promote talks between Israel and any party - including the Palestinians, Lebanon, and Syria - that accepts Israel's right to exist by engaging in direct negotiations, back-channel contacts, and/or an international peace conference.
For America's sake. For Israel's sake. Let's Talk.
